PREVIEW: Blackburn Eagles

Submitted by on October 24, 2013 – 2:45 pmNo Comment

Bottom of the table Blackburn Eagles travel to Widnes in search of their first points, as Wild look to put pressure onto Hull and possibly climb the table.

Alongside the hopes of drawing in a big crowd for Sundays local derby game with Blackburn Eagles, Wild will have big plans of taking away the Win and it’s 2 points to put a 6pt total on the board.

After 7 straight league defeats Eagles will be hoping to scalp the new boys on their own pad. Having only scored 9 goals in the first 7 games, and shipping 69 goals in the seven games, Wild will be going into it with the same free-scoring confidence as they’ve shown against some of the leagues big boys so far this season.

Team Captain Ben Simister said;
Really looking forward to the game as it’s out first competitive home game ever. It’s a great game to have as first game as Blackburn are a close team to us so it can be also called a local rivalry! In the past seasons Blackburn have been a bottom table team with hardly winning a game in the last few seasons, but this isn’t a game we will be going into lightly. They look the strongest they have been in a while and games against other teams have been closer than usual. We have got a bit of work to do from out defeat against Coventry, but I’m confident we will get the win, and we will hopefully make it a first entertaining home game for the fans!

A weaker WILD side will have the pressure of taking the 2 points, Line 2 forward Bobby Caunce loses both line partners as Shaun Dippnall is away playing roller in Europe for GB and Andy Clark has work commitments.

The only other areas of the team that we currently know is, Richard Charles who is still carrying the shoulder injury.

Sheffield Senators who sit underneath Wild on the table travel to Deeside to take on the league leaders. Out to the East of England, Hull are hosting Coventry Blaze on Saturday evening. A Blaze win will see Wild leap Hull on the table if they can overcome Eagles.

Wild v Eagles face off time is 18:15pm on Sunday evening, at Silver-Blades Ice Rink in Widnes. Prices are £5 per adult, and £3 per child. Family tickets are also available at £12 which is 2 adult + 2 children.
